My German Adventure
Yes the title is cheesy but it is what came out, and it made me laugh.
So I have three different post from my travels so after you're done with this one, keep on goin'.
Well we headed to Doress which is a town about 30 minutes from lushnje, and got on a ferry around 10 on thursday evening (that is 2 thursday's ago.) There were 3 ferries lined up in the dark night like the scene from "You've Got Mail". Where you see the grandpas huge boat, the fathers middle size, and then the son's tiny boat. Yeah, ours was the small one. We entered into the back of the boat and walked through the small, thin hallways. If we had payed the lovely price of 22 euros more we could have gotten a room for the evening. But that wasn't there style. So we headed to an open area with rows of comfy chairs. It sort of resembled the look of a movie theater without a screen. On both sides of the room were rooms set up with booth type tables. The family decided to set up camp in a couple of booths in the back of the room. I took a booth for myself and stretched out and got out my new fresh book I borrowed from my amazing room mate and started into the new adventure. Right before the ferry left the port at midnight, a group of ladies joined us in our corner of the room. The nice table I had to myself was then joined by a older lady from Albania. She smiled at me, set up her stuff then layed down on the small bench and soon was snoring. I stayed awake for another hour but finally tiredness came and somehow even with bright cabin lights, a awkward bench to lay on, and people talking I fell asleep. The next morning when I woke up we were in Italy. As we came to the shoreline a smile flashed upon my face. I was a kid in a candy store. My only question was "Where do I start?" Once we got off the fairy we waited for a bus to take us to the airport. The weather was perfect in Bari, it made everything so much more amazing for my first Italian experience. We finally got a bus and it took us all throughout the city. My eyes were huge taking it all in. I was amazed how everything looked exactly what I thought it would, and even better. I cant wait till I can actually spend time soaking it all up, one day one day.
The flight to Stuttgart, Germany was nice and easy. I got to sit by lukas and experience the whole flight from a seven year old boys point of view. It was wonderful. As soon as we got our bags and headed for the train station I saw a man holding a Starbucks cup. I immediately thought to myself "Emily, were not in Albania anymore. We got on the train and headed towards Elke's home. We had to take a couple different trains but after a couple hours we finally made it to
I could not stop saying to myself over and over again "Im in Germany, I am really here." It was absolutely gorgeous with a fresh layer of snow on the ground. The old town amazed me in every way with all its golden charm. I loved it. I loved just breathing in the cold dry air. It felt so refreshing and strangely warm. When we got to Elke's home I was happy to just stop and sit. We had been travelling for the last day and half, and I was tired and hungry. Elke's mom greeted us with a smile and a hot noodle soup that tasted like liquid gold (If that would taste good?) The next day was Saturday. Me and Elke took the day and just went around the town. I loved every minute of it. We went to tons of different types of stores and just observed the beautiful grace of Heiden heim.
