I love how Easter is always different :)
This morning I sat in a cushy red back movie theatre seat, and sang along while the polish choruses flashed up on the wide movie screen. In this moment all I could do was think "Wow, God you really have shown me so many different Easters in my life."
When I think of Easter growing up in Alabama, I think of waking up so so very early for sunrise services up on Burritt mountain (I think that was the one...) , I think of listening to "He's Alive" on our way to church. I think of a perfect spring afternoons flying our new kites we got in our easter baskets that morning. The whole family together out by the abandoned lot of land on the other side of the road from our house in Owens Cross Roads.
Easter in Tennessee never left me hungry. From a huge pancake breakfast to amazing dinner at J. Alexanders. Sorry to talk about food first. But it was soooo good to not remember. I am also reminded of just peaceful moments of being with my friends and family. Oh and the gentle hum of a Golf match on in the afternoon.
My Easter in Albania was nothing short of phenomenal. A day I will never forget. While I was in Albania, Christianity was not recognized as a religion. Every Christian in the country came together to the capitol Tirane. All of us walked together to the college, where we ended with a huge worship service. I loved every minute of it, singing proudly and showing the country who God really is? It was beautiful.
My next Easter was spent in Texas. Doing exactly what I love to do. I got to hang out with the coolest kids, and basically let them teach me all what Easter Sunday is. Then to be honest I cant seem to remember what happened after church. Most likely I had dinner with the family, then spent the afternoon sprawled out on the couch watching movies with my mom.
My 24th Easter Sunday was completely different then everyone before. It started out by getting soaked from pouring rain as we walked to catch a tram. Then finding the rented out Movie theatre the service was to be held in. The service was perfect. It reminded me no matter where you are, God is there. After the service me, my roommate Katie, and our friend Hannah decided so what if we were soaked we were going to go the center square and enjoy in Polish Easter festivities. We had grilled kielbasa aka Polish sausage & boiled potatoes. It was wonderfully tasty. By the time we left to come back home we all were worn out, and cold but happy. It was a lovely, different kind of easter!
